The price of a Bengal cat – check how much it costs

0

Bengal cats are a little-known breed in our country, but that is changing quickly. Every year, more and more Bengal cat breeders are appearing in Poland, following changing trends. People considering buying a cat who also like to stand out will increasingly not go for the extremely popular breeds like British Shorthair, Persian, or Maine Coon. This creates an opportunity for more exotic cats like Bengals. The only thing standing in the way of this breed’s mass popularity is money. Bengals are considerably more expensive than most other breeds. So how much does one have to pay for a kitten that is the descendant of cats from the jungles of South Asia?

How much does a Bengal cat cost?

Viewing the offers of the few breeders of Bengal cats that are still in our country, you can easily identify a rather stiff price range. The minimum price of a Bengal is from around $800 – that’s how much we’ll pay for a kitten “on our lap”, meaning with a declaration of sterilization or already after the procedure. Traditionally, males are slightly more expensive. The lowest price at which we can buy a male Bengal cat is around $1000 PLN.

The bengal cat is significantly more expensive than the british, persian, russian blue, or even the maine coon. The price difference can be as much as $500, which for most potential buyers is quite a sum. This explains why bengals have not gained the same popularity in Poland as they have in the United States.

We should remember that we’re talking about minimal prices so far. If we’re talking about the maximum prices, we strongly advise grabbing your wallet because the amounts that breeders expect might shock you. We can easily find offers to sell a Bengal cat for $1500, or even $2500 – that’s how much you have to pay for a purebred cat that can be a stud or a show cat.

Is it worth it to pay so much for a Bengal cat?

It is hard to answer this question with certainty because it is a very individual matter. If someone fell in love with a Bengal cat at first sight and is looking for a kitten with exactly the same character traits and also has the need to have a very original and rare pet, then they shouldn’t have a problem reaching deep into their pockets – if they can afford it.

However, we must be aware that the high price of a Bengal cat at this moment also results from the limited supply of representatives of this breed. In Poland, there are relatively few Bengal breeders – there are definitely fewer of them in comparison to breeders of, for example, a British cat, which has become a breed of common occurrence.

If this situation changes in the next few years (and it most likely will), we can expect a gradual decrease in prices – as was the case with the Persian cat, the Russian blue, or the Norwegian forest cat – breeds that were still considered very expensive 10 years ago.

Bengal cats are not for everyone, and people need to be aware of that. It’s not just about the high purchase price, but also about the specific character of the Bengal cat. It’s a proposition for conscious owners who don’t care about the costs because originality and even exoticism of the breed is more important to them.
